Yoga on the Green 2017

Yoga on the Green 2017

A New Year is often a time for fresh starts with many of us making resolutions focused on fitness and wellbeing.  January is the perfect time to kick start a new health regime and join us for free rooftop yoga!

On Wednesday 11 January North Sydney Council will commence fortnightly free yoga classes between 7.45am-8.30am. The classes will take place in the open air on Greenwood Plaza's rooftop gardens. The yoga style taught will be hatha, combining postures and stretches that help build energy levels, decrease stress and calm the nervous system – setting you up to have a positive and productive day.  Everyone is welcome to join; the classes are suitable for all levels including beginners.

The classes will run every fortnight until Wednesday 5 April. If you would like to take part in the classes please register by contacting commsevents@northsydney.nsw.gov.au. The classes are free and you can take part however frequently you choose, we just need you to fill out a form prior to attending your first class.  Please bring your own mat, water and sunscreen and wear comfortable clothes.  A few mats will be available to use on the day if you don’t have your own.

In the event of bad weather please call the event wet weather line on 9936 8272 on the morning of the class to find out if it’s going ahead.  The wet weather line will be updated an hour before the class is due to start (at 6.45am).

The yoga classes will be taught by Alethea Sheehan, founder of the Wellbeing Studio. Originally from Canada, Alethea now resides in Collaroy and has been teaching yoga for over a decade. With Diplomas in Integrated Therapies and Remedial Massages, she enjoys sprinkling knowledge of anatomy and physiology into her teachings – focusing on building alignment and stability.
