Greenwood Plaza Area Map
Greenwood Plaza is a CBD Shopping Centre located on the Pacific Highway at North Sydney. The 12,870m2 site, bounded by the Pacific Highway, Miller Street and Blue Streets enjoys a high profile as the most dominant block in the North Sydney CBD.
The site of Greenwood Plaza and 101 Miller Street is dominated by a sandstone heritage building which has been carefully restored. The building was originally completed in 1877 as St Leonard's Public School. It remained as an educational establishment until 1969 by which time it was known as North Sydney Technical Boys High School. The name of 'greenwood' as the school became popularly known came from the school's illustriou Head Master Mr Nimrod Greenwood who presided over the school for 32 years from 1884.
The fabric of the building, Greenwood Plaza and 101 Miller Street were developed and opened in 1992 by IEL. Capital Property Trust purchased the asset in June 1994 and the trust was sold to Mirvac Funds Limited in November 1996.
The Food Court and Fresh Food Precinct underwent an $8 million upgrade and refurbishment in 2003. Escalators were relocated to give easier access to the upper level and a stairway removed to create space for two additional specialty stores. Comprising one major store - IGA Supermarket, the Centre also has a strong representation of food catering, fashion, services and lifestyle stores.
